What is the dress code?
The wedding will be black tie. Gentlemen are encouraged to wear tuxedos, and ladies are welcome to wear floor-length dresses or gowns.
Where should we stay?
We have reserved room blocks at the following properties: (1) The Cloister (our venue), (2) The Inn at Sea Island, and (3) King & Prince Beach & Golf Resort. Please visit the “Travel” page for booking links.
For larger groups, we also recommend looking into Airbnb or VRBO rentals. There are many beautiful homes near the beach on property that work well for families or groups of friends.
When will invitations go out, and how do I know if I have a plus one?
Formal invitations will be mailed closer to the event date. Guest names and any plus-ones will be clearly indicated when submitting your RSVP online.
What is the best way to get there?
If flying in, the closest airports are Brunswick (BQK), about 30 minutes from the property, and Jacksonville (JAX), about 1 hour away. JAX is an international airport with more flight options, often offering direct flights from select hubs without the need for a layover, while BQK is smaller and conveniently located. Both airports have rental car services available, and The Cloister provides valet and self-parking. We also encourage guests flying in to consider ride shares for additional convenience.
Will transportation be provided?
Yes.
On Friday, shuttles to the welcome party will begin at 7:30 PM from The Cloister, The Inn at Sea Island, and The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. Return shuttles will be provided at the end of the evening to each property.
On Saturday, shuttles to the wedding will begin at 4:30 PM from The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort and The Inn at Sea Island. Return shuttles back to both locations will start at 10:00 PM and run throughout the end of the evening.
What is the weather like in Sea Island?
Mid-May is a beautiful time to visit coastal Georgia, with daytime temperatures in the upper 70s to mid-80s (°F) and evenings in the mid-60s to low 70s. A light breeze is common near the water. The ceremony is planned to be outdoors, with the reception indoors. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside. For the wedding, gentlemen may prefer lightweight tuxedo fabrics, and ladies may want a shawl or wrap for cooler evenings.
